[There's a certain bittersweetness these days when Vrenille thinks about food for the group--it's always been wrapped up in memories of home and guild for him, ever since he got here. But there are nearer memories now too, and food is also, for him, part of an older and hard-learned calculous of survival. It doesn't surprise him, then, when it's the echo of Carver's voice that answers in his mind:
